1# Quote: I didn't drop the butt, Corporal. I don't Smoke. 75 Frank
Response: I think this mean that the captain will or high ranked people will treat the people not nicely because of Frank not saying yes sir, the Corporal tell him to go clean the dishes. And to throw his week end pass I thought this was pretty harsh. Also that tells that if you argue with a captain or a Corporal you will be punished.
Connection: I had a connection to this when people think they are right and I tell they aren't but they have a big ego so they can't think it over and they can't think my idea even if it was right. This made me really mad. Then I drop the topic but this is when I made my mistake They keep talking and trying to convince there idea. This is really annoying. So I learned that not to convince your idea to some people because they will never agree.
Question :Is it worth it to fight with someone to get your idea through?
Quote2# :Swing low, sweet chariot, comin' for to carry me home. page 73 Tole
Response: This tells how tole is trying to cheer up everyone because they are nervous about the colonel searching people bags. So he tries to cheer them up. This is what Frank and his friend have to face because they need to pass the search, this search is when the corporal search your bag but Frank and his friends don't like people looking through your thing. So this is what all the character’s including Frank (that are privates)has been through.
Connection: I don't have a really big connection but one time my parent were looking for something in the house and they couldn't find it so the only place was my backpack and I didn't want them to look for it because then all my paper will come out because I was really unorganized and they did and like the character he doesn't want them to search his stuff.

Response #1: Kotae, I can’t say I agree with you. You say that the Corporal and other highly ranked people will treat others rudely. This is proven to be incorrect because earlier in the book a highly ranked person helps him clean his gun. He tells him to use soap, and in the end his gun is the cleanest in the cabin. This causes the two cabin inspectors to think highly of Frank so they give him a job. In that job he opened and closed car doors for the commander of that army base. And all of that put together got him his weekend pass.
ReplyDeleteAnswer #1: No, in the situation that Frank was in it was a horrible idea to argue with the Corporal. In the army you never say stooped things like that you always do what the higher ranked person tells you to do. However sometimes if nothing really bad could come from it and you want to have a friendly argument you can fight to get your point across. Just stay away from physically fighting the person, that doesn’t always end well.
Response #2: KOATE!? I don’t understand how you decided that this was a positive quote, go back and reread that page before reading the rest of this… go do it now… okay now that you read it I hope you actually understand what is going on in this book. That quote was actually the name of a song that a cabin inspector would hum as he stood on you while you did 50 pushups, you would get this punishment if your bunk and gun wasn’t clean.
Answer #2: I would never want people to look through my belongings. But if they were just walking by looking at my stuff (like in the book) then it would be alright. It is my personal things that have their own order and placement. They are not usually in a place to be messed with and moved from.

Quote 1: I didn't drop the butt, Corporal. I don't Smoke.
ReplyDeleteResponse: In this quote, Frank is trying to explain to the corporal that he doesn’t smoke and hence shouldn’t have to pick up the cigarette butt. Un fortunately for Frank the corporal thinks he should pick it up anyway. This cost Frank his weekend-pass.
Question 1:Is it worth it to fight with someone to get your idea through?
Response: This question is a matter of opinion. I personally think it is wrong to physically fight to get your idea through, but I also think it is perfectly fine to debate over it.
Quote 2:Swing low, sweet chariot, comin' for to carry me home
Response: This is a quote from the book where the colonel’s inspection will take place. The colonels inspection is a very critical inspection. If the colonel searches your bunk, and judges that there is any funny-business going on, you will have to do fifty push-ups while singing the above quote.
Question 2: Would you want people to go through with your stuff?
Response: This is a personal question. No, I would not want people going through my personal items. I feel it is a huge invasion of privacy. I think people should respect others privacy and possessions.
